Hybrid and Hybrid: Nemesis

I'm a simple creature, a visual creature, and I imagine that we all are. We all like looking at pretty things, especially in this hobby, and I think we're lucky enough to be so extensively spoiled by Rackham and all their pretty things. I remember, at some point, searching for the contents of the Rag'Narok box and stumbling upon this post on the "Strange News From Under There" blog. And I also remember scrolling through it back and forth, enjoying all the gorgeous content inside the box.

At some point later in time I hoped that I would be able to view the same thing for Hybrid somewhere on the internet, but as far as I could see there was no such thing. The blog called "thecount" created this post detailing Hybrid via all the rules, Cry Havoc articles, and Hybrid unit profile cards in French, but that wasn't exactly what I was looking for. So, here we are now.

Hybrid & Hybrid: Nemesis
This is an attempt to create a simple visual overview of the components for both the Hybrid core box and the Nemesis expansion. Not a full review per se, but I will toss some words into it to make it a bit more interesting.

Photo dump coming in, so you know the drill, click "read more" below to see the full post!

Hybrid

Hybrid, the core box...
...and the back of the box.

The Hybrid core box featuring the stunning art by Édouard Guiton and Paolo Parente, with the logo done by Franck Achard. The back of the box features some more wonderful art and a brief peek at the things inside.

Hybrid rulebook.

The rulebook for Hybrid and a few sample pages. This whole booklet is a work of art, every page of it. Obviously hosting all the rules needed to play the game, but also packed with lore, missions, amazing artwork and various photographs featuring the insanity that is the Rackham studio miniatures on their Hybrid terrain. Such a joy to browse through!

Faction reference sheets and rules summary.

Faction sheets for tracking activation orders and a nice handy summary sheet with various combat related actions.

Double-sided room tiles.

A beautiful stack of double-sided room tiles, all of them featuring gorgeous artwork. Every piece is oozing with atmosphere, the choice of colors and all the small details are simply wonderful to stare at and very inspirational if one wants to create the rooms in 3D.

Doors and various tokens.
Wounds, activations, etc.
Another stack of cardboard used for doors and other tokens, as well as a sheet with tokens for activations, wounds, and other bits. The door tokens and the other counters from the thick cardboard panels are amazing, but the slim sheet of tokens is probably the biggest downside of the whole core box. The sheet itself is extremely thin and the punched-out tokens are just close to useless when held, pretty much the same as the wound tokens in Confrontation blisters. Probably the best would be to glue them onto blank dice or some other plastic chips for sturdiness, otherwise you'll probably end up losing or tearing them.

Ten-sided dice and stacks of various cards. As far as cards go, I unpacked all of the decks prior to realizing that I want to do this blog post, so the cards aren't sorted as you get them in the box. But regardless, you get various Events, Mutations, Aura, gear, and mission specific cards, as well as profile cards for miniatures, both for Hybrid and Confrontation. Aside from the profile cards you get for the miniatures in the core box, you also get a few extra Hybrid cards for models not included in the box. For the Griffins those are the Griffin Executioner and the Templar of Hod, while for the Dirz you get Keratis Warrior and Skorize Warrior. I like this because the game kind of gives you the next few steps as far as collecting goes, if you want to expand your Hybrid collection.

Miniature boxes included with core Hybrid.

The Heresiarch's Rejects box with the Aberration.

Templars of Hod box with The Venerable Ambrosius.

And speaking of miniatures, here are the contents of the two boxes that come along with the core box. An excellent selection of sculpts, I honestly think these two factions and the choice of models truly establishes a strong atmosphere for the entire game.

Hybrid: Nemesis

Hybrid: Nemesis...
...and the back of the box.

The expansion box continues the trend of hosting amazing art on its cover, this time done by Mark Gibbons. There's less content inside and thus the box is fairly smaller than the core, so let us peek inside.

Hybrid: Nemesis rulebook.
Gorgeous rulebook strikes again. New rules and an errata, but also more fluff about the factions, more new missions and campaign rules. It's a pretty small book, yet stacked with so much content!

Hybrid: Nemesis room tiles and tokens.
A great stack of room tiles, the expansion introducing corridors and hallways into the game. The art direction and amazing design carried onward from the core box.

Hybrid: Nemesis cards.
Big stack of cards in this expansion, greatly expanding all previous decks. This time around you also get some extra profile cards for Hybrid. For Dirz you get Ysis, Biopsist, Dasyatis, Tiger of Dirz, and Clone of Dirz, while for Griffins you get the Darkness Hunter, Conscript, Fusilier, and the Inquisitor.

Nemesis Clone, Knight of the Lodge of Hod, and Griffin Minelayer.
Two blisters featuring 3 miniatures, the titular Clone and two of my favorite Griffin sculpts. Amazing additions to the game. Note that for these three you also get Confrontation profile cards.

And that's all! My ambition is to start painting the core box miniatures in early 2026 and to read all the rules in the meantime, which will only mean one thing... Hybrid session reports! Stay tuned and thanks for reading, hope you found this useful.
